Homebound Detention
Homebound detention allows the release of minors from
secure detention by court order to an intensive level of supervision in the
communityMinors are visited regularly and home and at school by homebound officers while
on the program to verify compliance with house arrest rules. Electronic home monitoring is
utilized for many of the minors in this program.
Electronic Home Monitoring (EM)
Electronic Monitoring is useful in relieving the
overcrowding at the Kane County Jail. Individuals who are sentenced to Electronic
Monitoring are allowed to remain in their communities and continue to hold their jobs so
that they can provide for their families. The Electronic Monitoring fee is determined by
the sentencing judge; assessment can be from $6.00 to $12.50 per day. Kane County uses the
active Electronic Monitoring equipment which allows monitoring of individuals in their
homes 24 hours a day.
Intensive Probation
The Intensive Probation unit is designed for
individuals who would otherwise be incarcerated but can be safely supervised in the
community through this program. Staff in this unit are armed, and they conduct home visits
for all of the field services probation units.
Domestic Violence
Two officers supervise juvenile and adult offenders convicted of domestic
violence. Contact is made with victims to insure that they are safe and have access to
necessary services. This unit works closely with the domestic violence shelters and
counselors throughout the county.
Sex Offender Caseload
Two specialized officers closely monitor offenders convicted of sex-related
offenses. This unit works as a team with community sex offender treatment providers and
local polygraph examiners to insure that the possibility of reoffending is minimized. |
