Public Comment Period for draft GO TO 2040 plan update and 2014-19 TIP

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) has initiated an update of the GO TO 2040 comprehensive regional plan, as required by the federal Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act. This draft plan update is available for public comment through August 1, 2014.

As part of the public comment period, CMAP is holding a series of open house meetings throughout the region this summer.  These meetings will provide residents and stakeholders with an opportunity to learn about and share feedback on the draft plan update, as well as on the proposed Federal Fiscal Year 2014-19 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).

2014 Construction Projects

The 2014 construction season is now well under way.  KDOT has provided a numder of different ways for you to find out more information about projects currently underway. 
 
The 2014 Anticipated Construction Contracts provides a static map that includes information on the roadway, limits and scope of each project anticipated to be under construction during the current year.
 
The Traffic Advisories link at the top of the page provides an interactive map with construction updates and other information including location, limits, timeframe and a contact person for each project.

Illinois Tollway Update

A portion of the Fox River Trail in Elgin will be closed to bicycle and pedestrian access throughout the month of June to accommodate drainage system work as part of the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) Fox River Bridge Project. The temporary closure of 1,000 feet of the Fox River Trail just north of the Fox River Bridge is scheduled to begin June 2. The closed section of the trail is adjacent to Duncan Avenue in Elgin, just north of the Fox River Bridge. The Illinois Tollway is reconstructing the bridge carrying I-90 over the Fox River as part of the $2.5 billion I-90 Rebuilding and Widening Project. The local roadway closure has been coordinated with the City of Elgin and the Forest Preserve District of Kane County. Additional information can be found at www.illinoistollway.com.
