The Kane County Development Department's mission is the development and maintenance of land use and other plans for the county and the enforcement of such ordinances as they are designed to promote orderly growth of the county as well as promote the public health, safety, morals, and general welfare and conserve the values of property throughout the county. To accomplish this mission the department is organized into three divisions: Planning & Special Projects, Subdivision & Zoning, and Building & Community Services.
The department director also acts as secretary of the Kane County Regional Planning Commission, Kane County Plat Officer, Kane County Building Officer, and County Zoning Officer.
