Since we began recycling obsolete electronic equipment in 2001, more than 30,000 local residents and small businesses have brought in3.6 million pounds of items to be recycled – enough to fill 135 semi-trailers. We have also recycled 140,000 old floppy disks, 100,000 CDs, 60,000 videocassettes, and 400,000 pounds of books.

Free of charge and open only to residents of Kane County and the Cities of Aurora and Elgin

Items Accepted for Recycling:

DO NOT BRING Manuals, Packing Material, Air Conditioners or other appliances, or Household Hazardous Wastes.

Computers and Peripherals:
Personal Computers, Monitors, Printers, Scanners, Modems, Tape, Disk, CD Drives, Cables, Keyboards, Mice, Plotters (Limit of 25 pieces on Towers/CPU's and Monitors)

Entertainment Equipment:
Televisions, Camcorders, Cameras, Stereo Equipment (no speakers), Game Players, Joysticks

Office Equipment:
Telephones, Cell Phones, Pagers, Answering Machines, Typewriters, Calculators, Adding Machines, Fax Machines, Shredders, Copiers, Postage Meters

Other:
Microwave Ovens

Software:
Electronic Media:  Floppy Discs, Compact Discs (and cases), Videotapes, Audio Cassettes)
Please remove all paper and recycle it with your mixed paper at home.

Books:
We also accept both hardbound and paperback books.
