Subdivision & Zoning Division
The Subdivision & Zoning Division is primarily charged with the administration and enforcement of the Kane County Subdivision Ordinance and the Kane County Zoning Ordinance.
The Subdivision staff processes all plans through the subdivision process. Concept and preliminary plans and final plats for subdivisions are accepted and routed through the County and local planning and regulatory agencies for review in conjunction with the County’s 2030 Land Resource Management Plan and Subdivision Ordinance.
The Zoning staff processes petitions for zoning map amendments, special uses and variances in addition to offering advice and assistance to County committees, local communities and the general public on zoning matters. Zoning map amendments, special uses and variances are presented to the Zoning Board of Appeals by the Zoning staff. The Zoning staff also enforces the compliance with the Zoning Ordinance through the court system.
