| PROJECT OVERVIEW |
| The goal of the YWCA Dam Removal & Brewster Creek Stream Restoration project was to restore a significant portion of Brewster Creek, a tributary to the Fox River, to a natural condition, improving the environment, removing liability from the YWCA of Elgin, Illinois for a failing dam structure, and simultaneously enhancing the educational and environmental resources available at YWCA? s Camp Tu-Endie-Wei. |

| PROJECT STATUS |
| Phase I of the Brewster Creek Dam Removal and Stream Restoration is complete. The last notch in the YWCA/ Brewster Creek dam was removed in February, 2004. Phase II of the project is ongoing. Phase II tasks include the restoration of the Brewster Creek channel, both upstream and downstream of the former dam. Downstream restoration includes sediment management activities, small dam modifications, and enhanced fish passage opportunities. Upstream restoration includes overland vegetative restoration activities. |
